Attitude towards drivers, helpers should be positive: Minister Gupta

KATHMANDU: Minister for Youth and Sports, Bablu Gupta, has said the traffic police should have positive attitude towards drivers and assistant-drivers (helpers).

Addressing road accident reduction awareness volunteer programme organised by Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office here today on the occasion of International Volunteer Day, 2025, Minister Gupta argued that the attitude of drivers and their helpers towards traffic police and vice versa should always be positive.

“Drivers and traffic police should be positive towards each other. Operation of traffic becomes easier if you are positive. Drivers should be positive towards traffic police and Nepal Police, ” he shared.

He stressed that riders of two-wheelers should adopt special precaution while riding vehicles as the data shows that ratio of accidents of two-wheelers as compared to other vehicles is high.

The Sports Minister clarified that it has not been possible to do everything including installing traffic lights, making road safer, increasing physical structures of police on time due to weak financial situation.

Similarly, Chief of Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, Additional Inspector General of Police Ishwor Karki expressed the belief that traffic police and Nepal Police would play significant contribution to resolve problems existing in communities from the support of the general people.

“We are deputed for the service of general people. We are ready to provide service to every citizen,” he opined.

Likewise, Chief of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, traffic senior superintendent Nawaraj Adhikari said traffic police are always loyal and committed to the people and working for the protection of the citizens.

Spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Naresh Raj Subedi, presented a working paper about accident and traffic management.
