KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah took to Facebook today to acknowledge the role of Gen Z protesters in the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

In his post, Mayor Shah wrote, “We have clearly stated this: this is purely a Gen Z movement. Dear Gen Z, the resignation of your oppressor has been achieved. Now it is time to exercise restraint.”

He added a cautionary note about the cost of unrest, stating, “The damage to the nation’s wealth is ultimately damage to our own assets. You and we must now remain disciplined. Your generation must now lead the country—be ready!”

The mayor also hinted at potential talks with the army, saying, “Be prepared to engage with the Army Chief. But remember—any dialogue must take place only after the dissolution of Parliament.”
