Bans on the use of plastic bags in Tikapur

TIKAPUR: Tikapur Municipality has banned the use of plastic bags. The municipality has made such an arrangement effective from today.

Mayor Ramlal Tharu has stated that he has been involved in the campaign to make the municipality a plastic-free zone for the past two months and has urged local political parties, businessmen, office bearers of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, associations, journalists and social workers to prevent the use of plastic products.

He said that those who sell plastic bags in violation of the municipality’s decision will be fined Rs. 1,000 for the first time, Rs. 3,000 for the second time, and Rs. 5,000 for the third time.

Similarly, those who use plastic bags will be fined Rs 10, Rs 50 for the first time, and Rs 100 for the third time. Those who produce plastic bags will be fined Rs 2,000 for the first time, Rs 4,000 for the second time, and Rs 6,000 for the third time.

Mayor Chaudhary has expressed his commitment to strictly implement the decision to make the municipality plastic-free. The municipality has been requesting people not to use plastic by publishing a notice in the local gazette on Chaitra 25, 2080 BS.
