KATHMANDU: The Judicial Service Commission has appointed Bimal Paudel as the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court.

Paudel, who was serving as the Registrar, has now been elevated to the post of Chief Registrar. The decision was taken at a commission meeting held on Monday morning, chaired by Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut.

The position became vacant after former Chief Registrar Devendra Raj Dhakal retired on Sunday upon reaching the age limit of 58.

The Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court holds a position equivalent to the Chief Secretary in the civil service.

Similarly, Man Bahadur Karki, currently serving as the Deputy Registrar at the Supreme Court, has been recommended for promotion to the position of Registrar.

Their appointments will be finalized once the Council of Ministers approves the promotion decision.
