KATHMANDU: With the end of the monsoon season, the night-time restriction on vehicle movement along the BP Highway will be lifted starting Wednesday, September 17.
A meeting of the District Security Committee held at the Kavrepalanchok District Administration Office on Monday decided to allow round-the-clock operation of the highway.
The decision was taken considering the nearing end of the monsoon and the upcoming Dashain and Tihar festivals.
Authorities said the move is aimed at easing travel while strictly following the approved road safety action plan. The highway had been under a night-time travel ban since the third week of June due to high risks during the rainy season.
For safety reasons, vehicle movement had been completely halted for 12 hours every night along the section from Dhulikhel in Kavre to Nepalthok on the Sindhuli border.
