Braving cold, devotees throng Muktinath Temple

MUSTSNG: Irrespective of biting cold, the devotees have thronged the Muktinath Temple in the district.

A common shrine for Hindu and Buddhist followers is located t an altitude of 3,800 metres.

It is severe cold at present, but the number of visitors is not declined, according to Dinesh Bhusal, manager at Muktinath Development Committee Office.

He wondered why this year witnessed usual number of visitors. The declining temperature has disturbed local people, limiting their mobility.

The weather around the Temple is below 15 in the morning and evening time. As many as 1,500 persons are visiting the temple every day.

It is believed that the bath taken in 108 springs and ponds in the temple premises fulfills one’s wishes.

The Muktinath Development Committee has been providing health care to those who face problems owing to cold.

Health workers are managed here for the same. As the number of devotees has not decreased despite cold this year, the hotel entrepreneurs are happy running the businesses.

Both the domestic and foreign tourists, especially the Indian ones, throng the temple. One of the visitors, Sundar Raut come from Humla, expressed happiness over his visit to the Muktinath Temple.

He came here after he heard the significance of the shrine.”The religious faith of getting my wishes fulfilled drew me here,” said another Dev Bahadur Rokaya come from Jajarkot district.
