KATHMANDU: Passenger buses have started operating from Gongabu-based New Bus Park.

Public transportation had been halted since September 8 after the government imposed prohibitory orders and curfews during the Gen-Z protests. Services have now gradually resumed.

Pankaj Malla, Head of Human Resources at Lhotse Multipurpose Pvt. Ltd., informed that dozens of vehicles left the Kathmandu Valley between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. today.

The umbrella organization of transport entrepreneurs, the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs, had previously issued a statement instructing its member organizations not to operate vehicles amid the crisis.

At present, buses are being operated independently by transporters. Senior Vice President of the Federation, Saroj Sitaula, said that discussions are underway with security agencies and ministries on how to institutionalize and coordinate transportation services in the coming days.
