KATHMANDU: A Cabinet meeting held last evening concluded without reaching a decision on the appointment of the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.

Although leaders of the two main ruling parties had held prior discussions on the matter, the proposal for the Governor’s appointment was not even presented during the session.

Hopes had been high that the appointment would be finalized following those talks. However, the meeting was limited to routine administrative issues.

The session, held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, continued late into the night but failed to address the crucial vacancy.
