KATHMANDU: A car driver seen in a viral video of assaulting a pedestrian in the middle of the road has been arrested by police.
The video of the car driver assaulting a pedestrian had gone viral inviting widespread criticism in the social media since this morning. This prompted the police to launch a search operation and arresting the person involved in the act.
Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Chief, Senior Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari said that the person who assaulted the pedestrian has been arrested and is Paras Bam, 42, currently residing in Budhanilkantha Municipality-3.
SP Adhikari also said that he was handed over to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, for further action. He is seen in the video getting out of the car at Narayan Gopal Chowk in Kathmandu and assaulting a person walking on the road.
The video of the driver of the jeep (Ba 3 Cha 1103) assaulting and abusing the pedestrian in a public place on the road section at Narayan Gopal Chowk was seen on various social media.
Bam was produced before the Kathmandu District Court today and was remanded to judicial custody for seven days for investigation, informed Kathmandu Police Spokesperson Pawan Kumar Bhattarai.
