KATHMANDU: Tensions flared outside the Nepal Army Headquarters in Bhadrakali after rival groups of Gen-Z youths clashed while demanding the appointment of an interim prime minister.

The confrontation broke out on the street in front of the headquarters between two opposing groups of Gen-Z demonstrators.

One group staged slogans opposing the proposal to appoint former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as the head of the interim government.

On the other side, youths supporting Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah and Dharan Mayor Harka Sampang also gathered in front of the headquarters.

The dispute escalated into physical assaults and a full-blown gang fight at the main gate of the Army Headquarters.

The road section in front of the headquarters remains tense due to the violent clash between the two sides.
