KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) mayor Balendra Shah has empathized on collaboration and coordination among all sides to preserve disappearing language, script, art and culture.
At today’s ‘Hang Yalambar Memorial’ award distribution ceremony held here, mayor Shah noted that some scripts of certain languages have already disappeared and some languages have become extinct, urging everyone to identify preserve such endangered languages and scripts.
During the ceremony organized by Kirant Rai Yayokkha on the occasion of Kirat Yalambar Sambat 5086, he expressed the view that each community should protect its languages that are linked to their art, culture, values, and identity.
Highlighting that the country has various castes, communities, and civilizations, mayor Shah stated that protecting and promoting all of them is a shared responsibility.
“Preserving our language, art, and culture is not just a personal matter but also about preserving the identity of the entire country,” he said.
