KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives, Education, Health and Information Technology Committee has decided to seek progress reports on the status of implementation of its directives to various government agencies in the last fiscal year 2081/2082.
The Committee meeting held at Singha Durbar today decided to give seven days to all agencies concerned to respond to the respective directives. Committee Chair Ammar Bahadur Thapa said that it has been decided to seek details on the implementation of the directives given to various bodies in the meetings held on various dates in the last fiscal year.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, Communications Secretary Radhika Aryal, and representatives of the Ministry of Law and Justice were present in the meeting.
On the occasion, the meeting has directed the Ministry of Communications to clarify the issues raised related to the Information Technology and Cyber Security Bill, 2082, and the Social Media Bill, 2081, during deliberations on the Media Council Bill. The Ministry of Communications has been instructed to clarify to the committee in its next meeting.
Committee Chair Thapa said that the Media Council bill will be finalized soon after holding discussions with experts and forming a subcommittee to hold clause-wise discussion.
Today’s meeting also decided to form a subcommittee for clause-wise discussions on the Media Council Bill. The name of the coordinator and members of the seven-member subcommittee will be announced in the next meeting.
