KATHMANDU: Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel has returned home today after attending the 11th ‘Global ICT Leadership Forum’ in Seoul, South Korea.

Minister Kharel had departed for South Korea on November 11, leading the Nepali delegation to attend the event.

The ICT Leadership Forum in Seoul was co-hosted by South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the National Information Society Agency (NIA).

The forum featured two sessions focused on ‘Digital and AI Transformation: Strategies and Challenges’ and ‘Global Cooperation for a Sustainable Digital Future.’

Minister Kharel noted that the ‘Global ICT Leadership Forum’ was both productive and beneficial for the advancement of Digital Nepal and its digital transformation efforts.

He emphasized the forum’s significance in enhancing knowledge, skills, and experience, for digital and AI transformation, especially when Nepal has developed its AI policy, established the National AI Centre, and formed the AI Council.

During group discussions, Minister Kharel also articulated Nepal’s priorities, collaboration with partner institutions, and partnership issues. Reports indicate that during this time, the Government of Korea and the NIA extended their cooperation to Nepal and provided guidance on partnership matters.
