KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who serves as Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, has appointed Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal to the vacant Vice-Chancellor position.

On Asar 23 (July 9), a recommendation committee led by Education, Science, and Technology Minister Raghuji Panta submitted three names to Prime Minister Oli for the Vice-Chancellor post.

The nominees were, in alphabetical order, the current acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khadga KC, former Dean of the Science Faculty Prof. Dr. Binil Aryal, and former head of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology Dr. Deepak Aryal.

The previous Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Kesarjung Baral, had resigned on Chaitra 28 (April 10), and his resignation was accepted.

Subsequently, on Chaitra 31 (April 13), Chancellor Oli assigned the acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khadga KC to fulfill the responsibilities temporarily, for a maximum of three months until a permanent appointment was made.
