KATHMANDU: The Department of Roads has urged commuters to refrain from traveling during night in view of the possibility of heavy rainfall in various places of the country.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted heavy rainfall in various parts of the country until October 6 and has urged everyone to remain alert.
Due to the risk of rain-triggered landslides, the Department has urged people not to travel at night. The Road Department has also advised against night travel and has called on all subordinate office staff to be prepared for disaster response duties.
The Department has also called for special precaution for those travelling on the Nagdhunga–Muglin and Muglin–Narayangadh roads, the BP Highway, the Kanti Highway, the Tribhuvan Highway, and Daunne road.
Similarly, the district administration offices of Tanahun, Chitwan and Dhading have issued a joint notice urging caution when travelling via the Kotre–Muglin–Nagdhunga and Muglin–Narayangadh roads of the Prithvi Highway.
Citing the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s weather forecast of heavy rainfall until Oct 6, the three district administration offices have jointly requested people to travel cautiously.
