KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and his spouse Central Committee member Arzu Rana Deuba have flown to Singapore for further medical treatment.
They departed for Singapore at 11:55 p.m. on Monday night via Singapore Airlines.
The Deuba couple had narrowly survived a life-threatening attack at their Budhanilkantha residence during the Gen Z Movement on September 9.
They were rescued at the time by a few security personnel and some Gen Z protesters themselves.
Following the incident, they were taken to the Nepal Army Hospital in Chhauni for treatment.
After initial recovery, the Deuba family has been residing in a rented house in Kathmandu.
Nepali Congress leaders had said that Deuba sustained severe injuries and received 12 stitches on the back of his head.
Meanwhile, the interim government had previously frozen the passports of Deuba and his wife, requiring them to obtain permission before leaving Kathmandu.
However, the restriction was lifted after they informed authorities about their need to travel abroad for treatment.
The couple did not use the VIP lounge at the airport during their departure.
