MAHOTTARI: Deurali Secondary School, located in Bardibas municipality–1, has been officially declared the first digital school in Mahottari.
Speaking at a programme held here on Sunday, Mayor Prahlad Kumar Chhetri said the initiative marks an important step toward improving students’ access to modern technology.
“There’s a common perception in Madhes that community schools here lag behind in terms of providing quality education,” the mayor said. “This move will indeed send a positive message across the Madesh.” He also inaugurated the digital boards that have been installed in all of the school’s classrooms.
The school currently serves 1,200 students from early childhood education up to Grade 12. Additionally, about 200 students are enrolled in diploma-level courses under the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), in Civil Engineering, Survey Engineering, and Forestry.
According to Principal Kumar Ghimire, all classes will now be conducted using digital tools. “Our teachers are well-trained in digital instruction,” he said, adding that students who miss a class will have access to recorded materials to review the lessons they missed in earlier classes.
The school employs 26 staff members, including permanent, temporary, on relief quota, for early childhood development, and as municipal teachers.
Despite growing enrollment at the secondary level, principal Ghimire said that there are only two teachers for the secondary level.
