KATHMANDU: Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has been arrested again, this time on allegations of engaging in activities aimed at disrupting the electoral process.
Kathmandu Police Range detained him on Monday, citing intelligence that he was actively involved in planned efforts to undermine the upcoming elections.
According to the Kathmandu Police Range, Prasai was taken into custody based on information indicating his continued involvement in organized anti-election activities. He had been arrested last week as well but was released on bail after providing a surety.
Police officials said multiple cases against Prasai are currently under consideration by the court, including charges related to cybercrime and illicit financial gain. Kathmandu Police Chief SSP Ramesh Thapa stated that the latest arrest was made on charges of spreading rumors and misinformation in violation of the election code of conduct.
