KATHMANDU: An earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.1, struck Nepal early Friday morning, with tremors also felt in neighboring India and China.
The earthquake occurred at 02:51 NST, with its epicenter at SIndhupalchowk, a district near the Nepal-Tibet border, according to the National Seismological Center.
The depth and location of the tremor caused widespread shaking. People in several parts of Nepal, particularly in the eastern and central regions, reported feeling the earthquake, as did areas along the border with India and Tibet, China.
There have been no immediate reports of injuries or significant damage, but local authorities are currently evaluating the situation in affected areas.
