BARDIBAS: Continuous rainfall since Monday night has washed away a section of the East-West Highway at Lachka in Bardibas-5, halting vehicular movement from Tuesday morning.
According to DSP Bikash Bam of the Area Police Office, the road has been blocked since around 7:45 AM after fast-flowing rainwater from the nearby jungle area inundated the highway.
The floodwaters have eroded about 30 feet of the road and swept away culvert pipes, completely disrupting two-way traffic.
Passengers and vehicles stranded in the forested area are waiting for the water flow to subside for movement to resume.
