KATHMANDU: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said that holding elections is essential for the protection of the Constitution.
Addressing a programme on “Election for the Protection of the Constitution and Stability of Democracy” organised by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), the Home Minister emphasised the necessity of elections to safeguard the Constitution.
He said the government is always committed to the promotion of human rights and stands by victims and survivors, adding that it is not in favour of impunity.
The Home Minister also assured that all necessary security arrangements would be ensured for the election. “An environment has been created for Gen Z voters to participate in voting and come into the mainstream of the State,” he said.
On the occasion, National Human Rights Commission representative Maya Sharma said that elections are the sole means to stabilise democracy.
Chairperson of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Nirmala Sharma, said the media has played a supportive role in creating an atmosphere conducive to elections.
