MAHOTTARI: Since the initiation of English-medium instruction in seven schools located in Gaushala, community schools have increasingly become the first choice for local parents and students.

There are 32 public schools in Gaushala Municipality. In the first phase, English-medium education was introduced in five schools. Because instruction has begun in the English medium from grade 1 to grade 12 here, the desire of parents and students alike is to study in community-level schools.

English-medium instruction is currently being provided from nursery to grade 10 at Tribhuvan Secondary School in Gaushala and Janata Secondary School in Bharatpurkhor, up to grade 4 at Shree Secondary School in Nigaul, up to grade 5 at Janata Secondary School in Rajkhor, and up to grade 5 at Shree Rastriya Secondary School in Kantibazar.

Former teacher Bharat Singh said, “While private schools used to be the first choice for parents at one time, the initiation of English-medium instruction by community schools now has saved parents’ investment in education.”

Amod Kumar Sah, Headmaster of Janata Secondary School in Rajkhor, stated that the school started English-medium teaching and learning in accordance with the wishes of the parents. He added that Gaushala Municipality needs to bring uniformity to education.

Jitendra Kumar Singh, a member of the Education Committee, stated that community schools started teaching in the English medium in accordance with the directive issued by the municipality to mandate English-medium instruction in community schools.

Principal Singh of Shree Secondary School in Nigaul stated that after the community schools here began providing English-medium teaching and learning free of cost in line with the directive issued by the municipality, public schools have recently become the talk of the town.

Municipal Education Officer Sanjay Kumar Singh informed that the municipality will move forward by formulating a policy to take English-medium education as a campaign, while addressing technical aspects such as teacher quota adjustment and the cooperative role of the school management committee.

Dr. Dipendra Mahato, Mayor of Gaushala Municipality, informed that the local municipality started English-medium instruction to provide educational quality.

He stated that the municipality is moving forward by providing trained teachers, essential infrastructure, textbooks, and other necessary educational materials to the schools.
