Fifth national Ski competition wraps up

MUSTANG: The fifth edition of the National Ski Competition in Mustang came to a close today.

Organized by the Nepal Ski Association, the senior men’s alpine ski event saw Chewang Mingur Tamang from Rasuwa take the top spot, while in the junior alpine ski category, Samden Gelbu Sharma from Dolakha claimed victory.

In the women’s alpine ski competition, Sangeeta Lama from Nuwakot emerged as the champion, and in the women’s junior alpine ski, Naina Shakya from Kathmandu also took home the title, as reported by the Nepal Ski Association.

In the senior alpine ski event, Samip Lamichhane from Kathmandu finished in second place, with Pundarik Pandey from Dolakha securing third position. In the men’s junior skiing, Arthasingh Bohara from Bhaktapur took second place, while Keshang Gurung from Mustang rounded out the top three.

In the women’s alpine skiing division, Ayushi Maharjan from Kathmandu finished second, and in the women’s junior skiing category, Menkakumari Ale from Mahottari placed second, with Aashiya Tamang from Kathmandu finishing third.

Champions in both the men’s and women’s senior and junior categories were awarded gold medals, while silver medals were given to those who finished in second place, and bronze medals were awarded to third-place finishers.

The winners of the senior and junior categories received their medals and certificates from the President of the Nepal Ski Association, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, General Secretary Vijay Shrestha, and the President of the Mustang Ski Association, Suraj Gurung, along with other officials and members of the Nepal Ski Association.

Additionally, the Nepal Ski Association provided certificates to all athletes and coaches who participated in the 5th National Ski Competition.

According to the Nepal Ski Association, this year’s event, held in the Waragung Muktikhetra-4 area of Muktinath, featured 15 junior players and 10 senior players.
