PANCHTGAR: Continuous rainfall has triggered a flood in the Hewa River, leading to the blockage of the Mechi Highway.
The highway was obstructed after floodwaters submerged a diversion section.
According to Rupesh Tamang, the information officer at the District Police Office in Panchthar, the diversion sustained damage following heavy overnight rainfall, resulting in a complete halt of traffic.
With the diversion damaged, the Mechi Highway is now fully blocked. As a result, road connectivity to Hilihang and Yangwarak rural municipalities in Panchthar, as well as to the Taplejung district, has been severed.
