Gen Z protests leave 72 dead, officials confirm

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s government has officially announced a total of 72 fatalities from the recent protests led by Gen Z.

The figure was confirmed by Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal during the swearing-in ceremony for new Prime Minister Sushila Karki.

According to Aryal, an additional 191 people are currently receiving medical treatment in various hospitals and medical facilties across the country.

He noted that the deaths occurred during protest activities on September 8, as well as in subsequent arson and violent incidents on September 9.
