KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel has resigned from his post, expressing disapproval over the government’s handling of the ongoing Gen Z protests.
Announcing his decision through a Facebook post, Paudel wrote that the young generation had only demanded good governance, accountability, and justice, but instead faced state suppression and shootings.
“Shooting down the youths who only wanted a better future for the country cannot be justified,” he stated. Paudel, a central leader of the Nepali Congress, said his conscience did not allow him to remain in the Cabinet under such circumstances.
His resignation comes amid intensifying protests across the country, in which several demonstrators have already lost their lives.
With his exit, pressure is mounting on the ruling coalition as more leaders face questions over their role in handling the escalating crisis.
