NAWALPUR: The Narayanghat–Butwal section of the East-West Highway has been completely obstructed.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhu Nepal, the Information Officer at the District Police Office, the road has been fully blocked since 6 AM after the diversion over the Binayi River at Dumkibas in Binayi Tribeni was swept away by rainwater during the night.

The obstruction has caused a long traffic jam, leaving vehicles stranded and passengers in distress. This is the third time the diversion has been washed away.

Earlier, on Poush 26 (mid-January), a bridge had collapsed while an Indian heavy truck was passing, after which a diversion was constructed to allow vehicle movement.

Following the damage to the diversion, police have rerouted essential vehicles through the Hongshi Cement road.
