GULMI: The Ridi–Wamitaksar road in Gulmi has been fully blocked due to continuous rainfall since Monday night.

According to District Police Office spokesperson Ganga Bahadur Saru, the road was obstructed at Daharekhola in Satyawati Rural Municipality-6 after rising water levels this morning.

Flooding mixed with debris from Daharekhola has halted traffic between Ridi and Burtibang of Baglung, police confirmed.

Police have been deployed from Johang Khaireni to clear the road, but continued rain has made the task difficult, Saru added.

Meanwhile, rising water levels have also been reported in Badigad Khola in Gulmi due to persistent rainfall for the past two days.

The District Administration Office has urged residents living near riverbanks to stay alert and relocate to safer areas.

People have been advised to avoid long travel unless necessary. The District Disaster Management Committee has marked over 180 locations in Gulmi as high-risk zones for floods and landslides.

Similarly, in Baitadi, a landslide at Jeude, Patan Municipality-4, has blocked the Dasharath Chand Highway since Monday.

Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Balram Pandey, said vehicles have been stuck on the road after the landslide at Jeude bend.

Efforts are underway to clear the debris. Jeude is known for frequent landslides, especially during road expansion works. A nearby electric pole has also been put at risk by the slide.
