KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall has triggered floods and landslides across Nepal, completely blocking seven major highways nationwide.
According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, these obstructions have severely affected key transportation routes in various districts.
The affected highways include the Koshi Highway in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality of Sankhuwasabha, the Nepal-China border bridge in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality of Rasuwa, the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Rasuwa’s Gosaikunda, and the Araniko Highway in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchok, all of which are completely closed.
Similarly, the Kali Gandaki Corridor in Annapurna Rural Municipality of Myagdi, the Ridi-Tamghas road in Ruru Rural Municipality of Gulmi, and the Jajarkot-Dolpa Bheri Corridor section in Aathbiskot Municipality of Rukum West are fully obstructed.
In addition, several other roads are operational but limited to one-way traffic.
These include the Tokha-Nuwakot road section in Kathmandu, the Mid-Hill Highway in Tehrathum, the East-West Highway in Mahottari, the Galchi-Trishuli road in Rasuwa, the Kali Gandaki Corridor and Mid-Hill Highway in Baglung, the Kali Gandaki Corridor in Nawalpur, the Beni-Jomsom road in Mustang, and the Prithvi Highway in Tanahun.
Furthermore, the Sandhikharka-Gorusinge road in Arghakhanchi, the Rapti Highway in Dang, the Sahid Highway in Rolpa, and the Dailekh-Surkhet road section in Dailekh are also operating with one-way traffic flow, as reported by the Police Headquarters.
