High-level committee to be formed to manage transport service during festive period

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to form a high-level transport management committee to facilitate the transport services in order to make passenger’s travel safe and smooth during the present situation and festival.

A meeting held under coordination of Director General of Department of Transport Management today made a six-point decision, said Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Keshav Kumar Sharma. The meeting was chaired by Sharma.

Chief of Highway Security Division of the Nepal Police Headquarters, Chief of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Chairperson of National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs as well as other stakeholders would be included in the committee.

Senior Vice-Chairperson of the Federation, Saroj Sitaula told RSS that decision was taken to conduct technical examine of the vehicles heading out of the Kathmandu Valley during the festival season as well as to set up passenger help desk as per the need.

Similarly, the meeting also decided to request all bodies concerned including the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs to make arrangement of vehicles in order to take the passengers heading out of Kathmandu Valley to their destinations in an easy and smooth way during current situation and festival season.

Likewise, forwarding necessary process for appropriate compensation by collecting the details of damages on public vehicles and transport-related offices caused in course of Gen-Z protest.
