KATHMANDU: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has accused certain groups of trying to disturb the election environment.

Speaking in Bhaktapur, he said the government will first attempt to persuade such elements but will act firmly if needed.

“The government will hold elections on the announced date, no matter what,” Aryal said, adding that the current administration is committed to conducting free and fair polls.

He urged all stakeholders to join dialogue initiated by the President and the government, warning against activities that could create instability.

Aryal also said the government is working to restore the morale of police personnel, which had declined due to political interference.
