KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has appealed to all individuals and groups to pursue their demands through dialogue and negotiation rather than through protests or demonstrations.
In a statement issued today, Ministry Spokesperson and Joint Secretary Ananda Kafle said the government has taken serious note of various calls for sit-ins, rallies, and protest programs being circulated on social media by different individuals and groups.
He clarified that the government remains committed to addressing legitimate concerns and grievances through lawful and peaceful means.
“Instead of holding sit-ins, rallies, demonstrations, or protest programs, we sincerely request everyone to seek lawful solutions to their demands through talks and dialogue,” the statement read.
Spokesperson Kafle reminded that the current government, formed after the recent Gen Z–led movement, is actively working to create an environment conducive to the upcoming national elections scheduled for March 5, 2026.
He added that the government is engaged in amending election-related laws, ensuring necessary resources, and holding discussions with political parties and other stakeholders.
Emphasizing the need for cooperation and coordination among all sides, Kafle stated that everyone’s contribution is crucial for maintaining peace and security and for conducting free, fair, and fearless elections on the announced date.
The ministry also noted that since the protests of September 8–9, the government has resumed public services, begun reconstruction of damaged infrastructures, and normalized the peace and security situation while focusing on an election-friendly atmosphere.
The ministry further warned that vested interest groups could exploit such movements to incite unrest and anarchy, urging organizers to remain vigilant.
It also appealed to the public to uphold communal harmony and national unity while ensuring that the rights of citizens to live peacefully, access public services, and participate in elections are not disrupted.
The statement concluded by calling on all sides to act responsibly in promoting national interest, safeguarding public and national security, and resolving issues through constructive dialogue.
