KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) is set to resume discussions today on the government’s policies and programs. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

During Tuesday’s session, lawmakers from various political parties shared their views on the annual policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83 BS, presented by the government.

Several MPs used the Emergency Hour to highlight pressing national concerns and urge government action.

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP Dr. Swarnim Wagle criticized the government’s policy document, calling it uninspired and lacking clear vision. He remarked that the policies reflect a government out of touch with the nation’s current challenges.

“It seems you don’t even recognize your own potential,” Wagle said. “There is no sense of urgency or ambition. Faced with a deep economic crisis, what has this coalition experiment delivered? Practically nothing.”

He also accused the ruling coalition of failing to uphold the commitments outlined in their seven-point agreement, especially those related to good governance and anti-corruption.

Devendra Poudel, Maoist Center Secretary and HoR member, also expressed dissatisfaction, describing the policies and programs as outdated and redundant. He pointed out that many proposals—including digital services, student employment, and banking reforms—were recycled from previous years without fresh ideas.

Poudel stressed that the policies should reflect a stronger vision for national development and criticized the budget for lacking depth and direction.

Nagarik Unmukti Party lawmaker Ranjita Shrestha demanded an impartial investigation into the April 30 arrest of party leader Resham Chaudhary.

Similarly, MP Kantika Sejuwal raised concern over Dipraj Bhandari, a 26-year-old from Mugu district, who has been stranded in the UAE for three months.

Thakur Prasad Gaire urged swift completion of the new federal parliament building under construction in Singha Durbar.

Meanwhile, Purna Bahadur Gharti Magar pointed out that budget allocations for district headquarters have remained unspent, and Manish Jha called for increased female representation in the cabinet.
