Impartiality, transparency must in justice sector: CJ Raut

JANAKPURDHAM: Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut has stressed that impartiality, integrity and transparency are needed in court and the justice sector.

Inaugurating the meeting of 51st executive council and national seminar on human rights organised by Nepal Bar Association here on Wednesday, he mentioned that human rights without justice could not be imagined.

The Chief Justice shared that it was challenging task to protect human rights in present political situation, expressing the view that it is impossible to talk about good governance and justice without human rights.

He also shared that more than 900,000 files at the Supreme Court and other courts were torched during Gen Z protest that caused a huge loss in justice sector.

Similarly, Attorney General Sabita Baral mentioned that good governance would be established in the country if human rights is ensured.

Sharing that good governance is the first condition for human rights, she pointed out that transparency and accountability are a must in justice sector for this.

President of Nepal Bar Association, Dr Bijay Prasad Mishra, former President and senior advocate Shambhu Thapa also expressed their views.

Around 500 legal practitioners are participating in the two day meeting.
