HETAUDA: Political stability is a prerequisite for building a resilient and inclusive Nepal. This was the conclusion of a three-day international conference on ‘Building an Inclusive and Resilient Nepal’.
Senior sociologists from various countries including Nepal participated in the international conference jointly organized here by the Nepal Sociological Association and Makawanpur Multiple Campus.
More than 70 studies, research findings and reported from various fields were presented, debated and discussed during the conference.
In the inaugural session of the conference, Sociological Association President Prof Dr Ganeshman Gurung said that inclusive Nepal is not a political aspiration but a social necessity, while noting that stability is a prerequisite for building a resilient and inclusive Nepal.
Likewise, senior sociologist Prof Dr Kailash Nath Pyakurel commented that political stability has not achieved in the country due to failure to understand the needs and structure of society.
Vice Chancellor of Madan Bhandari Institute of Health Sciences, Dr. Pradeep Gyawali, Mayor of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City, Meena Kumari Lama, Tribhuvan University Rector Prof Dr Khadga KC, Secretary of the Indian Sociological Association Shweta Prasad, and others discussed various dimensions of the theme of the event as well as different gamut of sociology.
In various sessions of the conference, research papers analyzing the social aspects of various fields including education, health, technology, climate change, gender power and relations based on sociological principles were presented, debated, and discussed.
A discussion on the practice, learning and challenges of federalism at the local level was also held during the conference.
The first Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Dormani Poudel, and the Mayor of Dhulikhel Municipality, Ashok Kumar Byanju, made presentations on the learning and challenges of the implementation of federal form of governance in the country.
