KATHMANDU: The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Nepal conducted a one-day Social Security training for selected private recruitment agencies in Kathmandu, aimed at strengthening compliance with national labour laws and promoting ethical recruitment practices.

The training focused on improving recruitment agencies’ understanding of Social Security Fund (SSF) requirements, recent policy updates in labour migration, and the role of recruiters in integrating social protection measures into overseas employment processes.

A total of 23 representatives—nine women and 14 men—from 12 private recruitment agencies participated in the programme. Sessions covered SSF enrolment procedures and benefit schemes for migrant workers, legal compliance obligations, ethical and fair recruitment standards, grievance-handling mechanisms, and emerging trends in labour migration governance.

According to IOM Nepal, the programme also served as a platform for experience sharing among recruitment agencies, allowing participants to discuss challenges, lessons learned, and practical approaches to ensuring transparent, accountable, and worker-centered recruitment practices.
