MUSTANG: Continuous rainfall has caused the Jomsom–Kagbeni road section of the Beni–Jomsom–Korala route under the Kaligandaki Corridor to collapse, bringing traffic to a complete halt.

Around 50 meters of the blacktopped road at Panda Khola has caved in, disrupting all vehicular movement.

According to District Police Office, Mustang, the road has been completely blocked by landslides mixed with mud falling from the slopes above. As a result, all traffic movement from Jomsom to Kagbeni, Muktinath, and Upper Mustang has been suspended.

Although authorities temporarily cleared the debris to allow some stranded vehicles to pass, another round of landslides soon reblocked the road.

Multiple points between Jomsom and Kagbeni have been hit by landslides and mudslides, he added. With rainfall continuing, the risk of further road collapse and falling rocks remains high.

All vehicles have been stopped at Jomsom for safety, as road conditions are currently too dangerous for travel.
