Kathmandu’s temperature drops further, Jumla records -4.5

KATHMANDU: The temperature of Kathmandu recorded its lowest this year today.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu has been recorded at 4.8 degrees today.

Earlier, on 20 December, the minimum temperature in the federal capital was recorded at 4.9 degrees.

Information Officer of the Department, Dinkar Kayastha, said that mist, fog and cold wave persisted in the Tarai region and snowfall occurred in some places in the Himalayan region. The cold is expected to increase further. Today, the temperature in Jumla recorded minus 4.5.

A late night bulletin released by the department says that mist and fog will prevail in most places in the Tarai region on Wednesday and that it will remain partly cloudy in the remaining hilly and mountainous regions including Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

The department has also stated that there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall at one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali Provinces.

As the same conditions will continue on January 1, the department has requested one and all to take necessary precautions.
