KATHMANDU: Social media users have widely criticized Koshi Province’s Finance and Planning Minister, Ram Bahadur Magar, following a hit-and-run in Lalitpur on Saturday.

CCTV footage shows a government vehicle carrying Magar striking 11-year-old Usha Magar Sunuwar near Harisiddhi Secondary School as she attempted to cross the road. The vehicle reportedly continued without stopping, while a bystander assisted the girl.

Police confirmed Magar was in the car at the time. Sunuwar was treated at B&B Hospital and discharged without serious injuries.

The car was en route to the CPN-UML’s Second Statute Convention in Godawari. Party chair KP Sharma Oli called the incident “normal” and urged against politicization, while the party pledged to cover medical expenses.
