SANKHUWASABHA: A massive landslide triggered by continuous rainfall has blocked the North-South Koshi Highway in Sankhuwasabha.

According to the Road Division Office, the landslide at Netabhir in Makalu Rural Municipality–3 washed away about 500 meters of the road.

The blockage has completely cut off the main route to Bhotkhola Rural Municipality. Local residents reported that vehicles carrying essential supplies and passengers are stranded, forcing some people to risk traveling on foot.

Work to clear the landslide has begun, but the large volume of soil and rocks is expected to delay reopening. The Netabhir area has previously been identified as a high-risk zone for landslides during the monsoon season.
