KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall in various parts of the country has triggered landslides, blocking several major highways.
According to Nepal Police, transportation has been disrupted in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
In Koshi Province, the Koshi Highway has been affected by heavy rainfall in the Barun Khola area of Bhotkhola Rural Municipality–4 in Sankhuwasabha district.
Similarly, in Dhankuta’s Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality–6, the Koshi Lokmarga (Highway) is partially open, but traffic is being allowed to move only in one direction, police said.
In Bagmati Province, the bridge connecting the Nepal–China border at Gosainkunda Rural Municipality–2 in Rasuwa district has been completely blocked due to flooding.
This has affected cross-border trade and movement between the two countries. In Gandaki Province, landslides have completely obstructed the Jomsom–Korala road section near Kalabhir, located between Chhusang and Tangbe in Baragung Muktichhetra Rural Municipality–3 of Mustang district.
