CHITWAN: Highways linking Pokhara and Chitwan to Kathmandu have been blocked at three different points due to landslides.

Two landslides occurred along the Prithvi Highway and one along the Narayangadh–Muglin road section, halting traffic since Saturday morning.

According to Chitwan District Police Office spokesperson Rabindra Khanal, vehicles heading in and out of the capital have been stranded on the roads since early morning.

On the Narayangadh–Muglin section, a landslide at Tuinkhola in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality–5 blocked the road around 6:40 am after mud and debris slid down from above.

Similarly, another landslide occurred at Ghopte Bhir in Ichchhakamana–4 along the Muglin–Malekhu section, bringing down mud and rocks and cutting off traffic.

Police said efforts are underway to clear both locations. In addition, a landslide at Paanidhara in Ichchhakamana–3 along the Prithvi Highway has also blocked the road, further affecting movement to and from Kathmandu.
