Life returns to normalcy with withdrawal of prohibitory order

SUDURPASCHIM: The District Administration Office, Kailali, has withdrawn the prohibitory order that was enforced in response to the ongoing Gen-Z demonstrations.

With the order lifted, public transportation services, local markets, and schools have reopened. Several government offices have also resumed operations after days of disruption resulted in from the incidents of vandalism and arson.

During the two-day protests (September 8-9), numerous incidents of arson and vandalism targeted government offices. Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah visited the affected offices today to assess the extent of the damage. He instructed employees to restore services as soon as possible.

According to the Information Officer Jagadish Joshi at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, most of the buildings owned by provincial ministries have been badly damaged, with valuable documents destroyed.

In total, 137 government buildings and private houses were set on fire or vandalized during the demonstrations, and 664 vehicles were burned in acts of arson.
