KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall since Friday night has triggered landslides at multiple locations across the country, disrupting transportation along six major road sections.
According to traffic police, several highways have been fully blocked while some routes are operating on a one-way basis.
Entry and exit routes from the Kathmandu Valley have also been affected.
Nareshraj Subedi, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, reported that a landslide near the suspension bridge at Sanga, Bhaktapur, has obstructed traffic, while another at Takuche in Bagmati Rural Municipality–3, Lalitpur, has closed the Kanti Lokpath road.
Similarly, the Pharping–Sisneri road section was blocked by a landslide above Mahalaxmi Khola in Indrasarowar Rural Municipality–4, Makwanpur.
On the BP Highway, landslides at Mamatikhola and Buldhunga in Roshi Rural Municipality–11, Kavrepalanchok, have halted traffic.
On the Araniko Highway, road subsidence at Charkilo in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality–4, Sindhupalchok, along with landslides at Khawa in Dhulikhel and at the 54-km point, have completely shut down movement.
In Chitwan, traffic has been halted on the Narayangadh–Muglin road after a landslide struck the Tuin Khola bridge area in Ichhakamana Rural Municipality–5.
Authorities have urged citizens to avoid traveling through landslide-prone areas unless necessary, use safer alternative routes, and strictly follow local administration instructions.
