KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s crime index rose 11.1 percent in 2024, with 58,255 cases reported, official data showed Thursday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that the increase was largely driven by property crimes, which surged 12.4 percent to 47,188 cases.
Despite the overall increase, there was a notable decline in homicide cases, with intentional homicides dropping 9.5 percent to 237 cases.
