JHAPA: The Manav Ashram Jhapa branch being operated in Mechinagar Municipality-4, Bahundangi has rescued 121 aspirants in a year.
The ashram has been rescuing street people surviving a difficult life on the roads and in public places. It has provided them with care and treatment, and integrating them with their dissociated families, shared branch coordinator Khagendra Biswokarma.
The Jhapa branch was formally inaugurated in 8 December 2024 as the 17th branch of the ashram.
According to the annual report of the branch, the operational expenditure of the ashram was Rs 5.48 million over the year.
The report stated that the branch generated Rs 5.46 million as service income and Rs 3.26 million as capital income during this period.
Total assets of the branch amount to Rs 22.67 million with revolving fund of Rs 252,880, cash Rs 21,189, and bank balance of Rs 927,113.
The ashram has its own building in Mechinagar-4, stretching over two bigha five kattha land donated by the family of Ram Bahadur Pradhan, a local social worker.
Of those rescued, the branch has successfully facilitated family reunification of 30 individuals. Currently, the Jhapa branch is protecting 72 dependants in its space.
