KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel has stated that skill-based education that enhances practical knowledge, moral education and capacity is today’s need as required by the nation.

Addressing the Diamond Jubilee Ceremony held today on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Padmakanya Multiple Campus, he emphasised that it is this kind of education that can face today’s challenges.

Referring to the fact that the country has come to this situation after going through adverse circumstances, the Head of State said that amid those difficult and challenging conditions, the date for the House of Representatives (HoR) election was set for March 5, 2026 while safeguarding the constitution, democracy and the country.”I am confident that this election result will strengthen the journey of good governance, development and prosperity, and give it a new direction. Since this election is essential for the country, the people and democracy, I also want to appeal to all my fellow Nepali brothers and sisters to make it successful,” the President said.

President Paudel stated that there is a need today to focus on enhancing skill-based education that begins teaching additional subjects according to the needs of society and the nation, and improves practical knowledge, moral education, and capacity.

He stated that the main function of educational institutions is to prepare quality and skilled manpower required for various sectors in the country.

“Many women established not only in the intellectual and administrative but also in the political sector of the country have attained higher education from this campus, and recently the trend of Nepali students going abroad for studying new subjects in higher education is increasing. Considering this reality, I believe that this campus will pay special attention to providing quality education within the country to meet the market demand in the coming days,” said President Paudel.

He stated that the contribution of education is important for the development of any country, and the Padmakanya Campus has made a special contribution to the educational advancement of women in Nepal.

President Paudel said, “It was Padmakanya that opened the doors of higher education for Nepali women at a time when, following the end of the Rana regime and the dawn of democracy, the general public was just beginning to gain access to education. Established with the main objective of providing higher education in such a complex situation, Padmakanya Campus has come to be synonymous with women’s education.”

He maintained that it is a matter of happiness that Padmakanya Multiple Campus, established with the main objective of women’s empowerment through quality education, has a proud history and has succeeded in becoming a leading educational institution in Nepal and the country’s foremost academic centre for women’s education.

The President also expressed his pleasure at the initiative to upgrade the campus as a women’s university and wished for its success.

On the occasion, President Paudel honoured Bidya Thapa, Pragya Gautam, Bhagawati Sedai, Niran Khanal and Anjana Pokharel for completing their PhD in the latest academic session.

Campus Chief Prof. Dr. Jayalakshmi Pradhan provided information about the academic progress of the campus.
