PATAN: Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Chiri Babu Maharjan, has urged newly elected chairperson and office-bearers of the Nepa Bhasa Manka Khala urged to involve in language preservation by utilizing information technology.
At a programme organised by Lalitpur metropolis to extend best wishes and congratulate newly elected working committee from the 14th convention of Nepa Bhasa Manka Khala here today, he requested to carry out activities making collaboration and cooperation with all keeping preservation of Nepa Bhasa and culture in priority in the era where the information technology has been making stride.
“Manka Khala should work selecting experts in language and culture sector. Lalitpur metropolis is ready to provide any support to Manka Khala for preservation and promotion of Nepa Bhasa,” mentioned Mayor Maharjan.
Stating that main objective and responsibility of Manka Khala is to work keeping language, culture and heritages in priority, he opined that the metropolis was ready to support, collaborate and coordinate for the purpose.
Similarly, Chairperson of Manka Khala, Mahendra Lal Maharjan, pointed out the need of giving priority to speak Nepa Bhasa in the families.
Manka Khala was effortful to include Newari language even in the exam of Public Service Commission, he added, saying support of all stakeholders including Lalitpur metropolis was necessary.
Likewise, Deputy-Mayor Manjali Bajracharya expressed the belief that Nepa Bhasa Manka Khala would play significant role in preservation of Newari language, adding the metropolis has introduced local curriculum for the preservation of Newari language and culture.
