KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Kulman Ghising, has directed officials to expedite repair works and resume traffic movement along the Chauki Danda section of the BP Highway as soon as possible.
During an inspection visit to the section washed away by the Roshi River, Minister Ghising instructed the Department of Roads and construction contractors to prioritize reopening the vital highway that connects the federal capital Kathmandu with districts of Bagmati, Madhesh, and Koshi Provinces.
Accompanied by Ministry Secretary Keshav Sharma and Director General of the Department of Roads, Bijaya Jaisi, the minister inspected areas severely affected by floods and landslides, including Chauki Danda..
The team observed that around four kilometers of the damaged highway are now being temporarily restored with the construction of a diversion road to resume transportation services.
