Minister Shrestha calls for active participation in March 5 election

KATHMANDU: Minister for Children, Women and Senior Citizens, Shradha Shrestha, has appealed to all eligible voters to actively participate in the upcoming March 5 election to the House of Representatives.

Minister Shrestha made the appeal while inaugurating the 35th central assembly of the Nepal Cancer Relief Society (NCRS) here Friday.

She stated that the upcoming election that is going to be held under a special circumstance would mean a lot to the country. Everyone should cooperate in holding the election in a peaceful and fear-less environment, Minister Shretha reminded.

Minister Shrestha, who is serving in the cabinet of the interim government formed in the wake of the Gen Z movement, clarified that the interim government’s one and only priority is to hold the election.

“Everyone’s active role is imperative for the March 5’s election. All voters should be able to exercise their franchise freely,” she argued.

She encouraged, “We should participate in the election considering future of our children. I urge you all to exercise your franchise using your discretion so that our children do not have to shed blood yet again.”

NCRS’s Chairperson Mahesh Shrestha shared that during the assembly, they discussed raising awareness about cancer, plans and prioritizes of the organizations providing treatment against cancer among others.

The NCRS is a non-profit community-based nationwide social organization that was founded in 1982 with an objective of fighting the spread of cancer in the country. It currently has branches in 48 districts.
